NEW TO THE ART SCENE: LOVE ART LONDON
A new opportunity to experience the art world from behind the scenes has presented itself. Love Art London is a new membership club that allows members to “access a carefully chosen selection of exclusive, eye-opening experiences happening in London” (www.loveartlondon.com). Members can attend evening tours of historic homes, have a behind-the-scenes presence at auctions, listen to curators speak about current exhibitions, and visit conservation labs in London museums, among other events. The company’s launch party took place on Wednesday, 24 February at The Estorick Collection in Islington where recognisable faces in the arts community mingled with young hipsters (including the UK pop-rock band, The Hoosiers), suggesting that an interest among art aficionados is prevalent. At just £25 permonth, members can choose which events they would like to attend. On occasion members are able to bring guests to events for an additional £10. In order to keep the events intimate, attendance is limited to the first 15 (a workshop with conservationist Deborah Bates, for example) to 50 members (the Andy Goldsworthy film ‘Rivers and Tides’) who register for the event. For further information on becoming a member of Love Art London, visit the company’s website at www.loveartlondon.com.
